Maricar is an educator and a licensed professional teacher with eight years of teaching experience in a private university and public college, handling tourism, hospitality, and management courses. Over the past years, she has dealt with events and student organizations in both tertiary institutions and joined various professional organizations. She is currently taking her Doctor of Philosophy in International Tourism Management at the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila, working on various research focusing on different tourism sectors that may contribute to the industry.
She was also connected with the Alliance of Improving Health Outcomes as a research assistant and regional coordinator for Central Luzon. They conducted a feasibility assessment of social contracting for HIV/AIDS services in selected Philippine LGUs. Apart from teaching and research work, she spends time handling a small start-up business providing travel services to clients, and going to different places around the Philippines and abroad.
