INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE FOR PRACTITIONER, ACADEMIC AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION
About
IMPACT is an international, multi-disciplinary magazine (professional journal) published by Southeast Asia Research Academy (SEARA), which aims to facilitate discourse among practitioners, academics, and the community in transforming knowledge into practice. It seeks to look into regional issues in Southeast Asia and provide critical reviews and writings about the phenomena in the region. The purpose is to provide fresh perspectives and comprehensive solutions germane to the context to bring sustainable impact to the population concerned.
Specifically, IMPACT is a hub for:

Practitioners to share emerging, real-world issues and best industrial practices,

Academics to feature their well-argued and evidence-based academic insights, and
-
Communities to be better-informed and aware of the importance and urgency of local and regional issues.
Thus, IMPACT strives to spark dialogue through the collaboration and collective perspectives of practitioners and academics to increase the visibility of regional issues aimed at bringing sustainable change to the community.
Submissions
How to submit
IMPACT will provide a fixed template for authors to use. Please download it here. You will then submit and upload your work through our IMPACT submission form using the template we provide above.
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. We will endeavor to get back to you as soon as possible. IMPACT aims to publish twice a year, in March and September.
We request that you do not submit your work to IMPACT while it is under consideration for publication elsewhere and vice versa.
Who can submit
We accept and publish articles submitted by members, non-members, and the general public who wish to contribute to IMPACT and have a say on any SEA issues.
Topics
At IMPACT, we hope to bring together different voices and stakeholders representing the scholarly community, including practitioners, to discuss Southeast Asian issues. Articles should highlight the ways for research to have more impact or for researchers to demonstrate impact on society. In short, we accept and publish articles on various themes and topics related to Southeast Asia.
If you are unsure whether your article’s subject matter will be appropriate for IMPACT, please email our Editors entailing your article content. Our audience is researchers, higher education professionals, practitioners, publishers, policymakers (local, national, and international), and the general public.
Length
700 - 1000 words
Figures
IMPACT encourages using figures, which may include images, graphs, or charts. Figures should be high-resolution, numbered, and have a caption and description inserted below them.
For images: please attach a preferred photo (1-2) to be placed alongside your post and ensure that it is high-resolution, in landscape mode, and most importantly, licensed for reuse. Do also provide a caption, full attribution, and a hyperlink to the source, if applicable. If you have nothing, the editor will find a suitable image to accompany the article post.
Referencing
IMPACT uses hyperlinks instead of formal academic referencing references. Kindly ensure not to hyperlink entire sentences, only the relevant word or point of your argument that you’d like to reference. You may also place the URL in parentheses where you would like it to be identified, and we will link it ourselves. Links should direct readers to the source of reference; detailed reports, other pieces of research, news items, or blog posts. Open access sources are preferable compared to those behind paywalls. The maximum number of references should not exceed ten references.
Editing
Please ensure you have edited, fact-checked, spell-checked, or proofread your work. As a volunteer-run organization, we do not have the resources to provide extensive feedback, so submissions that are not up to standard will not be published.
