Khun Set Thar is currently a Ph.D. student in the institute of geography at the University of Cologne, Germany, with a full scholarship from the DAAD. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Environmental Management and Technology from Mahidol University, Thailand, with a full scholarship from Norwegian Government Scholarships, and a B.Sc. degree in Forestry from the University of Forestry and Environmental Science, Myanmar. He has extensive experience (5 years) working with the public, private, civil society, and international organizations across Myanmar, Thailand, and ASEAN. His current research focuses on urban and social geography, especially disaster risk management in Myanmar.
