Saittawut Yutthaworakool

Thailand

Saittawut (Matt) Yutthaworakool is a Ph.D. student in Gender and Development Studies at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, with a full scholarship from the Royal Thai Government. He holds double degrees of MA in Human Rights and Democratisation from Mahidol University, Thailand, and the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, with a full scholarship from the European Union. His master’s thesis on trans women’s legal gender recognition in Sri Lanka was awarded the Global Campus of Human Rights’ best thesis. Matt has extensive experience working with the public, private, civil society, and international organizations across Thailand and the Asia-Pacific. He has published academic articles, policy papers, and op-eds on various topics, including the human rights of marginalized communities, religious nationalism, and transboundary issues in South and Southeast Asia. His current research focuses on gender, culture, and media. In his pastime, Matt enjoys reading, traveling, swimming, and joining marathon events.
