Mageswari is a lecturer at Sunway University. She earned her PhD in Tourism Planning and Sustainable Tourism Development from the University Science Malaysia, Malaysia. At the same university, she also graduated with a Master in Tourism Development and a Bachelor of Communication in Persuasive Communication,

Her research interests include tourism, marketing, behavior intention, sustainable development, sports tourism and holistic well-being.
